The highly anticipated, annual spectacular will soon engulf the city of San Diego as Comic-Con International returns for its annual conference. Imagine every super hero, every villain, future heroes and future villains all in one place for four days of madness, chaos and outrageous behavior. This is Comic-Con. And ProHD Rentals is sending in heavy artillery to the order of 10 Sony EX-3 cameras to help cover the event.
For those of you who have been living under a rock for the last decade, Comic-Con International, in their own words is: a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.
The “event of the summer” takes place Thursday, July 22 through Sunday, July 25, 2010. It is a long weekend of amazing animation, comic book characters, graphic novels, unique costumes, famous and infamous icons, celebrities, anime, films, filmmakers, authors, spectacle
and more. This is where the geeks, the freaks and the chic all come together for a harmonious weekend of fiction and fantasy. To read about just some of the celebrities attending the biggest thing since Cannes, go to MTV’s website for more details.
The environment at the convention is electric as new artists, returning artists and those hoping to discover artists descend upon the San Diego Convention Center. Thousands attend costumed in their favorite super heroes or super villains attire. It is an opportunity to immerse yourself into a world of fantasy and role play, where you can meet the creators of your favorite graphic novels.
The event has also recently become a hotbed for Hollywood deal making and project development as producers seek to find the next great idea with a heavy-duty, cult following. Some have rumored that many a script has been transposed into graphic novel form and presented at Comic-Con in the hopes of having the idea optioned by an agent, producer or publisher.
ProHD Rentals is a big fan of Comic-Con because of its independent roots. The whole comic book industry arose as a pop-culture media with a grass roots following. Over the years the popularity of the pop-culture grew and became more mainstream. The graphic novels were inspired by an underground movement where publications were distributed amongst friends and grew organically. Although Hollywood has infiltrated the fan-based gathering, the independent spirit and creativity still prevails.
Independent creativity and inspiration is something to be cherished, nourished, fostered and encouraged. ProHD Rentals is there to support those with the vision, the tenacity and the drive to pursue their passion. There is a revolution going on and we are here to arm the militia.
